Opis
Ecopak™ EPX is a new series of waterproof fabrics for backpacks made out of 100% recycled polyester finished with pfc free DWR. Similar to Xpac, this fabric is a laminate of:
200D face fabric, 45° CrossPly, 70D white ripstop fabric. In all roughly comparable to xpac VX21 soft.
- The woven fabric is 100% Repreve recycled polyester.
- The proprietary Challenge RUV recycled film backing is 100% recycled and 97% UV Resistant.
- 45 degree Blue recycled CrossPly yarn improves pattern orientation and reduces cutting waste.
- Every yard of ECOPAK™ saves over one pound of CO2, compared to Nylon pack fabric.
- ECOPAK™ contains no harmful TPU, PVC, DWR or other coatings.
- CO2 emissions from manufacturing this recycled polyester are 50% lower than Nylon, 38% lower than virgin film, comparable to organic cotton.

What to say… this fabric is simply great!
I use it for every kind of ul gear (fanny packs, backpacks, wallets, pouches…).
Abrasion resistant, easy to work with, beautiful color options, ecofriendly, this fabric check quite all the boxes for resistant and lightweight gear.
Not the best options if you want to seam seal your product (check out EPLX or EPL for this).
Compared to X Pac VX21, Ecopak has a more shiny look.

Yeah, it looks nice at first sight. BUT test it on the trail : IT IS NOT WATERPROOF AT ALL !!! Don’t buy it, if you’re looking for something waterproof ; Ecopak EPX (and probably the other EPLXs as well) is NOT WATERPROOF AT ALL !!! They claim “HH 140000mm” : the reality is “HH 1400mm” or less… i have tried EPX200, 400, from different providers over the years : they ALL FAILED ! The first time, i thought of bad luck ; but it keeps failing. Never happened with Xpack before (but they might have changed).

Hi Christine,
You are most likely getting water in through the seams and then the white backing fabric absorbs the water. If you want to make item fully waterproof use something without white backing fabric such as EPLX200 or EPLX400 and tape it.

NO ! It is the fabric itself that is porous : how could it be the seams, when you could easily see the rain going through parts of fabric without ANY seams around ??!!!! And don’t tell me the fabric i bought is faulty, cause they all are ! So, please, be honest, and accept that fact instead of fooling people !
